Baltimore County Department of Recreation & Parks

Branding & Identity

Digital Design

During my time in Stevenson University’s Type II course, I had the opportunity to work on a branding project that served as both an academic assignment and a freelance opportunity for the Baltimore County Department of Recreation & Parks. The organization, which had been using the Maryland seal, needed a new logo that highlighted nature, an active lifestyle, and recreational activities. In a competitive process with 30 student submissions, my task was to conduct thorough research, sketch, design, and ultimately present a logo concept to the department's leadership team. I drew inspiration from existing park and recreation branding, engaging in extensive brainstorming and sketching before moving into digital iterations. Throughout three rounds of feedback via Zoom, I refined my design to align perfectly with the department’s core values. The final logo, noted for its strong typography, bold color choices, and dynamic representation of diverse activities, was selected and is now actively used across their social media profiles and marketing assets.
